I know Halloween Monster themed cereals is a thing in North America but I'm not sure if it was/is sold outside of North America. They were introduced in 1971 and there five types: Count Chocula, Fraken Berry, Boo Berry, Fruit Brute, and finally, Fruity Yummy Mummy. Most of this sugary cereal regular production was stopped in the 80s/90s but it comes out seasonally for Halloween. I never ate these as a kid because apparently pop-tarts were okay but this shit was too sugary, according to Mom's logic. So naturally, as a mature adult and Halloween nut, when I saw two of the five in stores I wanted to grab one and see what I was missing out on. I picked Boo Berry because frankly, the mascot looks like he should be called Booze Berry. Tell me this cartoon ghost doesn't look a little tipsy:

Here's what the actual cereal looks like. It's hard to see here but the cereal bits are dark purple, I don't know why they're showing up as brown. Taste wise, it does taste like blueberry and tastes fine. If you don't like sweet cereals then you won't like this but if sweet cereals make you feel nostalgic for cartoons on Saturday morning, it'll fit that craving.

Finally, on the back of the box there's cut out mask for a instagram contest which I'm undoubtably going to cut out for shits and giggles.

Anyway, that was today's Halloween themed post. I'm off to visit my parents and I hope everyone is having a good sunday!

He looks more high to me. lol
While Count Chocula, Fraken Berry and Boo Berry are very easy to find here, I've never seen Fruit Brute or Fruity Yummy Mummy in stores.

That's what my friend said too, which I concur to lol. Count Chocula is always around here at Halloween but this was the first time I saw Boo Berry and I've never seen any of the others.

Haha yeah, that ghost looks tanked!

Parent logic around "junk" food is indeed funny sometimes. My mom would never buy us fun cereal but then she would feed us canned soup for dinner and let us drink soda... Haha!

I know, we ate terribly as kids when I look back. A lot of it was because my parents were usually busy working so it was like 'whatever's quick and sounds healthy'. Although in retrospect my parents grew up with their parents feeding them the same way. Bit of a vicious cycle. They're much better now and I'm....still pretty bad but I'm an adult who has to take responsibilities for her own poor choices lol.

Yes thats a yummy cereal.  The American version of it though has to many bad ingredients so i can't eat it.  Its fun though to just eat out of the box lol

I'm sure the Canadian version probably has just as many bad ingredients lol. Anything with dehydrated marshmallows is usually bad for you.

OMG, blasts from the past! My mother usually bought super healthy cereals for my brother and I, but once a month, she would allow my brother and I to "take turns" with one sugary cereal. I was never a fan of Chocula, but I loved the fruity ones. I should take a look to see if they've hit the store shelves in Oregon. ;)

OMG, that is so funny. I never had any of those cereals because my mom would only let us eat Cheerios, Kix, and Crispex. Or Life cereal. Ha. I'm kind of scared at how much sugar is in those kids cereals. I might get all hyper if I ate that. The Boo Berry does sound good though!

Oh yeah, it definitely would not become a regular thing. If you're craving something sweet it will fill that craving though.

Hahahah Boo Berry looks high as fuck xD;;;

Anyway, I had no idea there were special seasonal cereals, we definitely do not have that here. FRUIT BRUTE. I'm dying, these names are gold.

Oh yeah, there are even Christmas themed cereals too although the only one that comes to mind is the red and green rice krispies.

LOL my Mom didn't buy them either, it wasn't until I was in my twenties that my then-boyfriend bought them all. I think I OD'd on them though as I can't bring myself to buy them any more. Though I am looking forward to seeing your Instagram photos as Boo-Berry LOL

I think this will be my only box of Boo-Berry. Unless a craving hits next year lol.
