thenerdygirl: Drawing of a tea pot and mug with the text that reads first rule of tea club; never talk about tea club (Tea club)

Bloo bagoo

....is similish for “What’s up?” apparently. I don’t know what’s funnier, that there are defined similish words online or that I went looking for them. This past weekend I re-installed the original Sims game after talking about it on [livejournal.com profile] papertea's journal and talk about a flashback of the past. It’s amazing to think I use to spend hours playing this game when I was a teen. What was even funnier is that while I was re-installing and playing Sims, John was playing Witcher II on his Xbox. Naturally, comparisons were made.

Fights in Sims:

...well, technically fights in Sims are just giant dust clouds but slapping is where it all starts. I played the old game for about 40 minutes before nostalgia wore off and I missed all the things I could do in Sims 2 so I started playing the 2nd one again. I get into spurts where I play a lot for a week or two and then I don’t touch the game for like two months but I’m enjoying the current spurt. A while back I started a Queen Bee challenge with an original character for shits & giggles. Basically the Queen Bee challenge involves trying to get one female sims to have 60 kids with ten male sims, so six kids for each relationship and I’ve got a town half populated with a bunch of half siblings. It’s stupid but oddly fun. I’m currently trying to get the first three batches of kids through the college portion which is a bit tedious but thank goodness for time cheats. Sometimes I think I should just skip university but then it comes up in the damn wants and I can’t resist.

What else has been going on outside the renewed addiction to Sims 2? John and I went to the gym together for the first time. He used to have a Goodlife membership but we realized it was cheaper to add him to my membership with Aquarena Gym which is right next to my work place and part of the university. I’ve used the pool for years but never used the gym before because I’ve always been self conscious about using the machines so it was nice to have someone else with me.

We had a good time and we’re already planning a gym schedule. This is very good as I need to get back on track with exercising. When I lived alone I found it easier because I could just go whenever I wanted but moving in together has thrown off my exercise and eating habits a lot. We’ve improved in our eating habits together in some ways, like including more fruits and veggies, eating less take out so I’m hopeful we’ll be able to figure out how to combine living together with being healthy together.

Last night I tried out a new recipe: Grilled Halloumi tacos with chickpeas & peppers. It was interesting as neither of us had tried halloumi before and found it okay but ultimately we liked the chickpea mixture more so I think the next time we’ll use the chickpeas with grilled chicken or vegetables instead.

I don’t have anything else to add so I’m going to end the post with this:

Wow, I never heard of halloumi. I'm not sure you can get that cheese here in Michigan. Looks like an interesting taco recipe though. Glad to hear things are going well with your health and that you're eating more fruits and veggies and will go to the gym. It is def nice to have someone to exercise with. Bob and I did a 12 week yoga program this summer and that was great!

I had never heard of it either until seeing that recipe and happening upon the cheese in the grocery store. Weirdly enough it was produce section and not the cheese section, so if you're looking for it keep an eye out in the produce section. Of course, that could just be what our backwards stores in Newfoundland do. If we can get it here on the island I think it should be available in Michigan.

Thanks :) Fingers crossed we'll keep it up.

I bet you can get the halloumi in eastern Michigan near Detroit. There is a big Arab (Levant) population there and according to the Wiki page, they like to eat the halloumi. I'll look for it!

Cool! I'll be curious to hear what you think of it :)

Also, in Witcher you get to see all the boobies LOL. Tim played that game and every time I'd walk in he was getting it on with some succubus or something. I will play it eventually but I tried to start a game right after playing DragonAge and the buttons were the exact opposite so I gave up because I wasn't in the mood to retrain my brain!

I love Sims. I don't have the original one anymore, I have Sims 2 and Sims 3, all the expansion packs. It is pretty much electronic doll house. Which is fine. I have not done Sims 4 yet because I think my PC will need an upgrade to run it plus the reviews didn't blow me away. I go through spurts too, I think that is the nature of Sims. It's such a time sink, you can't play it forever or you would get nothing done anywhere else!!

And have sex on a stuffed unicorn, according to Conan's clueless gamer. I might have a go in the future but I still have a bunch to do in DragonAge: origins and I haven't tried Inquisition yet.

Yeah, I'm probably not going to pick up Sims 4 either. It looked interesting at first with some of the interaction and building features but then I started reading the reviews and how much was cut out compared to the older games.

I think Sims 2 was probably the best of all the versions. Love that Simlish dictionary haha.

[identity profile] thenerdygirl.livejournal.com 2015-08-28 12:38 pm (UTC)(link)
I'm thinking that too...although I may be biased because I got bunch of the expansions really cheap after Sims 3 came out so it seems like it has so much when I read about 3 & 4.

[identity profile] lyssa027.livejournal.com 2015-08-27 11:03 pm (UTC)(link)
I loved Sims 3 and Sims 3 ;) Sims 4 has some fun parts but is missing all the expansions that the others had so isn't as much fun yet

[identity profile] thenerdygirl.livejournal.com 2015-08-28 12:42 pm (UTC)(link)
I haven't tried sims 3 but maybe if I find a cheap copy I'll try it out. It'll be interesting to see what expansion packs come out for 4.

I tried doing an ISBI challenge but I borked up my game and it fell by the wayside. Maybe this fall if I get back into playing regularly I'll return to it? If you're interested at all, I did do a Sims soap opera-style story here [livejournal.com profile] intensefeelings, but that is the Ultimate in Sims nerdom :P hahah

It's sooo hard to eat well and exercise for me, too, since moving in with my boyfriend. I don't even know why? Like what changed? We're working on it but it's really hard! Kudos to you and yours for at least making it to the gym and trying healthy recipes :)

[identity profile] thenerdygirl.livejournal.com 2015-08-28 12:46 pm (UTC)(link)
I so want to try an ISBI challenge but I'm such a control freak in the game that I don't know if I'd be able to resist only controlling one character. Maybe I'll try a trial run with one of the kiddies from the Queen B challenge lol. Cool, I'll give it a look :)

I know for me it's the lack of alone time, it was always easier to squeeze in exercise when I had oodles of alone time. I wish you guys good luck with working on it though and thanks!

I used to play this online game called Second Life and I'd make my avitar fight other avitars and I had one that was a male stripped named Tennessee Lush hahaha

[identity profile] thenerdygirl.livejournal.com 2015-08-28 12:49 pm (UTC)(link)
Fun! We have a few books about Second life at the library but I never played it myself.

Fights in the Sims are always so funny XDDD. You made me want to play them again!

[identity profile] thenerdygirl.livejournal.com 2015-08-28 12:52 pm (UTC)(link)
Yay, I'm an enabler XD

Just kidding, and yes, the fights are pretty funny. Especially since after fighting so many of my sims roll a want to see the other person's ghost lol.
