Sunday blues but on a Monday

Saturday John and I checked out a new restaurant called Curry Delight, a Pakistani/Indian deli-style restaurant. It was pretty good and as a spice wimp, I appreciated that the first thing the lady did was to point out the options based on the spice level. I love spicy flavours but I have a stupidly low tolerance...though I will say I'm better than my dad who things BBQ sauce is spicy. I stuck to butter chicken, vegetable curry, and rice. Also, appreciate that they carry and allow reusable containers for takeaway.

After that, we went to check out John Wick: Chapter 3 Parabellum at the cheaper theatre which I enjoyed. It is very similar to Chapters 1 & 2 but let's be honest, the highlight of the series is the action and seeing Keanu Reeves be a hot, melancholic assassin. Though I am in love with the world building of this secret assassin society that continues to be built upon/unveiled piece by piece in each movie. You get a little more every movie but I think the series does a good job of making it interesting and not an info dump or an attempt to explain every little thing.

I thought for sure Halle Berry's character Sophia was going to be an old flame and hell, maybe she is supposed to be but it didn't seem that way to me. It came off as simply old friends/colleagues which I liked. Especially since canon wise it's still close to his wife's death so I'm glad they didn't try to give him a romantic line.

Sunday was Dungeons and Dragons at the Geek public house. We had a new DM who was someone we'd been regularly playing with last year so that was fun. It was his first night DMing a drop in session and it was an interesting quest on an alternate plane to save a forest underworld from a bone devil and sweeping darkness. It was especially challenging because we had no gear other than what chief Tree aka Groot gave us. It was my second time playing my new bard character and I typically stick to fighter/rogue types so that was also a challenge for me. I'm not well versed in the spell casting but I'm trying to branch out.

I was way too tired Sunday night to stay up to watch Game of Thrones so we decided to leave it to Monday. I had to mute messenger because of course my friends started talking about it. Normally I don't mind spoilers but I didn't want my take on the last episode to be coloured by other people's views.

I was okay with it. It probably helped that my expectations were much lower after episode 5. It wasn't how I pictured everything ending but then again, I am also shipping trash who would have paired people off and had some other pregnancies besides Gilly's. My ideal ending would have been cliched as fuck and people probably would have still been pissed so you know, whatever right? I can go through of laundry list of things I would have liked to be different but I'm also glad they didn't go for the uber dark 'Everyone died' kind of ending that everyone joked about.

I don't know, I do agree with a number of complaints but I'm also burned out on the complaining from some corners on twitter. Not to mention that petition bullshit. Really? HBO's going to remake a season that cost millions and millions of dollars for signatures? The actors are going to give up their new projects or whatever they've got going on to reshoot a season? Part of me feels bad for all the people who worked on this because aside from the plot/writing issues, the stagecraft is absolutely masterful and the actors did a good job with what they had. So it has to suck for them to see so much hate about something they worked hard on, even if they themselves weren't thrilled with the ending.

I'll be curious to see what George R.R. Martin does with his ending.

We also visited the new arcade/restaurant part of Cineplex aka the rec room. The food was good, some items a little oddly priced but overall pretty standard. I was hoping for a couple more retro style games but there were a couple that we might check out the next time when it's not so busy. After that, we checked out Detective Pikachu because I like Pokemon and John likes to indulge me lol. Naw, he enjoyed it too. It was a cute and I think they did a good job with the CGI. I don't think it's a 'need to see in theatre' movie but you know, still fun.

Wise choice - I always go with the butter chicken. I can't stake Indian spice but oddly have no issue with Singapore Noodles which my husband can't handle. Love me some Singapore Noodles 🤤

I've only ever watched an episode and a half of GOT and that was season 1! ☺
