First highlight of the day so far? New work mug!


A surprisingly cheap find at Pipers, a small Newfoundland chain store. Now I just have to try to avoid breaking it like the last few mugs. The second highlight? Chocolate croissants brought in my department head at the library. As much as working at the library may make me feel loopy sometimes (especially as we integrate with our new operating system Alma) I do have to say I have an awesome department head. Even when she's up to her eyeballs in stress she's always super nice, friendly and funny. I honestly have no idea how she does it.

How are you liking Alma? We're still on Aleph...my boss and I went to an Ex-Libris cocktail party at ACRL and the salesperson who came to chat us up couldn't believe we were still on Aleph :p

Thanks! Hard to say, in training it certainly seemed promising but as right now we're in the switching over stage everything's a tangle. I think I'd like Alma a bit more if our information transfer had gone better. The library staff have already resigned themselves to the fact that the first year will be a mess but I think it will improve in the second year onward. Or I hope anyway.
