Time is a mindfuck
Mar. 4th, 2022 01:28 pmI've been re-reading some of the posts from when I first started blogging and the difference in how I write now compared to how I wrote back then and, uh...yikes?
Of course, I had to do the math and I realized I started my Livejournal eighteen years ago?!?! I started blogging in January 2004 during my third year of university so I would have been twenty. I guess I shouldn't be too hard on twenty-year-old me for sounding like an idiot. I suppose fifty-six-year-old me will be just as judgmental in another eighteen years, assuming this site is still around and I'm still periodically blogging.
Another thing I picked up on while reviewing my older posts is I have a pattern of blogging during the winter and dropping off the face of the earth once the weather gets warmer. Which is fair, after months of snow it's only natural I'd want to be outside to take advantage of the nicer weather. That pattern is also true for my writing RPG habits. In the past, I usually start or join games in the fall or spring when the weather is wet and there are no holidays to distract me.
Recently I've been poking around the RPG advertisements on Tumblr though I think it's more curiosity about what games are out there than any real interest in joining. Journaling and poking around with some old fanfiction has been scratching my writing urge plus every time I look at an RPG I'm reminded of how much time RPGs can take up between character creation, plotting, posting, and then waiting for someone else to reply. Just thinking about it makes me feel tired.
